Our History

​2006
-Our History began with a vision for mental health care in regions unreached by mental health services.
​-Director Hedwick Fonbeh Chia began studies at Fort Worth Seminary in the USA.

2012
-Living Vine Mental Health Clinic began services in a rented facility in the Northwest Province of Cameroon.

2013
-Clinic construction began in Bamenda, Cameroon. The plan was for a 3-story, 29′ x 86′ Living Vine Christian counseling building. The first of its kind in the nation.
-Dental Hygenist Mariama began training at St. Louis University for nursing degree.

2015
-Living Vine Mental Health Ministries, Inc Articles of Incorporation filed in the State of Iowa.

2015
-Granted 501(c)3 non-profit public charity status by the IRS.

2017
-January: Founder Ron Presley’s visit to further construction.
-April 26: Living Vine’s first inpatient.
-Nurse Mariama finished B.S. in Nursing to work at Living Vine.

2021
-Planning began on Menal Health Institute in Bamenda for the training of future mental healthcare workers.
-Fonbeh Ronald Dzelamonyuy began M.D. training as future Living Vine physician.

2022
-The Institute was fully accredited.
-Groundbreaking on the new institute building
-October 5th: Classes began!

2023
-Institute continues construction
-This is a period of great financial need for building.
-Plans made for adding a protected open-air space for patients, a cafeteria and a front reception area.

2024
-Funds needed to finish the interior of the 5-story institute/clinic building
-Funds needed to complete the clinic’s front additions.

February 2013 Living Vine Mental Health Clinic Construction Begins

February 21, 2019 Handicap ramp construction gets underway.

October, 2019 Handicap ramps and ramp roofing done.

Tons of Sand arrive to make cement for exterior plastering of second floor.

​Workers apply plaster to finish exterior 2nd floor walls.
